Matt Henson, Parkview
Taren White dominated Gwinnett County sprinters from 2007 through 2010. During that time span Taren won 49 out of 60 races in the 100/200/400 meter dashes. Her senior year Taren won 20 out of 21 races and was undefeated in both the 200 and 400. Her only loss in the 100 that year was a 2nd place at the Mobile Challenge of Champions. Ms. White was a 3 time region champion in the 100 meter dash, a 4 time region champion in the 200 meter dash and was the 400 meter region champion her senior year. Taren won the 100 & 200 meter County championships in 2007 and 2008 and was County champion in the 200 & 400 in 2010. Taren capped off her four years at Grayson by winning the state championships in the 200 meter dash with a then school record 23.7 and the 400 meter dash with a then school record time of 53.78. She led the Grayson girls team to a 5th place finish that year as she added running the anchor legs to a 2nd place finish in the 4 x 100 relay and a 7th place finish in the 4 x 400 relay. Taren’s leadership and outstanding accomplishments on the track during her four years at Grayson High School helped to establish a legacy that is still felt throughout the Grayson community and Gwinnett County.
